The best lake house warming gifts do one of two things: they make the house feel like their lake, or they solve the problems every new lake house runs into (never enough towels, nowhere to put wet stuff, nothing to do when it rains). Top picks: a canvas or pillow with the outline of their lake, a lake house guest book, a stack of beach towels, and a Christmas ornament for their first holiday at the lake.
Buying a lake house is a big deal. These ideas help celebrate it with something they'll use every weekend.
Each of our lake products links to the lake finder, where you pick their lake and see that lake's version.
Price guide: $ = under $25, $$ = $25 to $75, $$$ = over $75. Third-party prices are typical ranges and vary by brand. Our prices are as of September 2026.

Make it feel like their lake
1. A canvas of their lake (from $44.99)
Shown: our Lake Lanier canvas. Every lake has its own.
New lake houses usually have bare walls. A gallery-wrap canvas with the outline of their lake fills the big wall over the couch or the fireplace, and it's specific to their lake, not generic "beach" decor.
2. A pillow with their lake ($34.99)
Shown: our Lake Wateree pillow
An easy way to bring the lake onto the porch swing or the couch.
3. A ceramic lake ornament (from $19.95)
Their first Christmas at the lake house deserves an ornament. This one has the outline of their lake, and it's a great add-on to a bigger gift.
4. A jigsaw puzzle of their lake (from $34.99)
Rainy days happen. A puzzle of the lake they're stuck inside looking at is the perfect lake house table project. Ours come in 252, 500, and 1,000-piece sizes.
5. Matching lake shirts or hoodies (tees from $29.99, hoodies from $54.99)
Get the new owners matching shirts or hoodies with their lake on them. They'll wear them at the first cookout.
6. A custom dock or welcome sign ($$ to $$$)
A sign with their family name or the lake house's name for the dock, the porch, or the front door.
Solve the lake house problems
7. Beach towels ($ to $$)
Every lake house runs out of towels. A stack of big, bright beach towels is always welcome.
8. A lake house guest book ($ to $$)
Friends and family will visit all summer. A guest book on the entry table turns every visit into a memory they'll reread for years.
9. A wet bag or dry bag ($ to $$)
For swimsuits, towels, and phones on the way to and from the dock.
10. Outdoor string lights ($ to $$)
For the dock, deck, or patio. Evenings by the water are half the reason people buy a lake house.
11. A throw blanket ($$)
For cool evenings on the porch and early mornings with coffee by the water.
12. Insulated tumblers or can coolers ($ to $$)
Lake houses go through a lot of drinks. A set with the family name or lake name is an easy win.
13. A first aid kit ($ to $$)
Scraped knees on the dock and fish-hook pokes happen. A good kit in the kitchen drawer is practical and appreciated.
14. Board games and cards ($ to $$)
Rainy days and late nights need something to do. A few classic games are a great housewarming add-on.
Gifts for guests to bring (hostess gifts)
Invited to someone's lake house for the weekend? Bring something they can use while you're there:
15. A lake ornament or can coolers ($)
Small, useful, and easy to pack.
16. A breakfast basket ($$)
Coffee, a local jam, and pancake mix. It gives the hosts a break.
17. A trucker hat with their lake ($27.99 to $37.99)
One size fits most, and they'll wear it on the boat that day.
18. Extra sunscreen and bug spray ($)
Not glamorous, but every lake house runs out.
How to pick the right lake house gift
- Personal beats generic. "Lake" decor is everywhere. Decor with their lake's name and outline shows you thought about it.
- Think about how they'll use it. Towels, guest books, and dry bags get used every weekend.
- Pair a big gift with a small one. A canvas plus an ornament, or towels plus can coolers, makes a great housewarming set.

What is a good gift to celebrate someone buying a lake house?
A canvas of their lake paired with a lake ornament for their first Christmas there. It marks the moment and it's specific to them.
